Biographical Sketch Bettie Faye Elbert-Peterson was born in Shreveport, LA on the 23rd day of December to Mr. Willie Lee and Mrs. Mattie Mae Elbert. She was educated in the Caddo Parish Public Schools and attended Southern University Shreveport Bossier City Campus for two years of study. In 1975 she married MAJ Earl Peterson, Jr. and then their military journey and family began. She traveled with her husband to various duty stations; Ft Sill, OK, then on to OCS at Ft. Benning, GA, Ft Gordon, GA, Berlin Germany, Ft Polk, LA, Wiesbaden, Germany and then to her husband’s military retirement duty station at Ft Carson, CO. While in Germany, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Southern California in Early Childhood Education. Supervisor Bettie Peterson was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost at the age of 9 years old and has since been a faithful witness for God. All through her teenage and young adult life, she was diligent in the service of the Lord. Mother Peterson is very well acquainted with the work of the Church Of God In Christ at all levels. Her labor in the church includes but is not limited to the following: Jurisdictional Adjutant Mother, Jurisdictional Women’s Department Catechizing Board Member, Jurisdictional Prayer & Bible Band President, District Mother’s Board Vice President, District Missionary of District 4 - Germany Jurisdiction, Local Church Women’s Department President, Local Church Mother and the list goes on and on. Suffice it to say, she is the First Lady of the Bountiful Blessings Church Of God In Christ. Her faithfulness in January 2005 brought her to the level of serving as the District Missionary of the Southern District in the Colorado Jurisdiction, first under the leadership of Bishop Roosevelt Dunn; and now under the leadership of Superintendent Herbert M. Lofton. Mother Peterson also served as the President of the Colorado Jurisdictional Women’s Department Public Relations Committee for 10 years. In the 2015 Jurisdictional Worker’s Meeting, she was appointed as an Assistant to the Colorado Jurisdictional Supervisor. She is a dynamic speaker and an example to women everywhere and is indeed a “Woman of Excellence”. She faithfully served as a role model and workshop presenter in the Colorado Jurisdictional Women’s department, under the leadership of Supervisor, Mother Bertha A. Washington. In 2018, Mother Peterson was selected by the International Women’s Department, Dr. Barbara McCoo Lewis to present a Workshop presentation on “Passing the Mantel” that was published in the 2018 International Women’s Department Workshop Manual. She was often called upon to spearhead various special Women’s Department projects for the Supervisor of Women. Mother Peterson was chosen in 2019 to work as the president of International District Missionary Unit Public Relations Committee and a Program Committee Member under the leadership of Dr. Norma Roberson. She leads by example, and is indeed a woman of courage, conviction and distinction. Under the direction of God, Mother Bettie Peterson was chosen by Bishop W. H. McDonald in the Colorado Jurisdictional Workers’ Meeting of March 2021 to be the Jurisdictional Supervisor; and in November of 2021 during the Annual International Church of God in Christ Holy Convocation, she was appointed by the International Supervisor of Women, Mother Barbara McCoo-Lewis, to that particular office. Supervisor Peterson is a Prayer Warrior, a teacher, and an excellent wife of 47 years, a superb mother of three beautiful daughters, three sons by marriage, which are all working in the ministry and three beautiful granddaughters and one handsome grandson that makes her a gorgeous grandmother (GG). Mother Peterson, as “affectionately called” by many, is a lover of God’s people and of children of all walks of life. If you miss her among the adults, just look for the nearest gathering of children! Find a child, find Mother Peterson. Mother Bettie Peterson is very passionate about young women being ideal mothers and excellent homemakers. Her concern is both seen and felt as she diligently develops these young godly women as they move forward into this 21st Century and into our ever-changing society. Mother Peterson encourages excellence in education for our young people because they are transitioning daily into adulthood. First Lady/Supervisor/Mother Peterson is the epitome of the Proverbs 31 Woman. Give her the fruits of her hand, and let her works praise her in the gates. |
